1/95 to 12/05, 2/09 to Present: -- Owner, A Logical Solution:

Provide administrative and technical support,  web development, desktop publishing, and custom programming solutions for small businesses, consultants, academia, and individuals.  Software projects included designing, developing, implementing and supporting a multi-user application across a Novell LAN network.  Database was Object-Relational, with front-end application utilizing OOAD techniques.  Project received an upgrade in fall 2001.  This system was used by the High Point Market Authority (High Point Chamber of Commerce) until their migration to the internet in 2005-06.  Other services offered:  Resume/CV/Cover Letter Preparation, with counseling and follow-up as needed for individuals.  Example of services for  businesses and contractors: web development,  invoice and billing, preparation of union contract agreements, and more, providing an economic and justifiable alternative to minimize cost and risk associated with hiring, training, full time, part time, or temporary personnel.

9/03 to 9/07:  Shamrock Corporation

Informix Business Applications Analyst/Development for corporation consisting of multiple divisions

§  Primary Responsibility:  Charged with statistical forecasting systems that directed processes and product handling for a wide array of products, sales, and distribution channels across diverse business divisions.  Focus was on inventory planning and optimization (IMS and development of new Early Warning IMS).  Handled daily reporting and processes tracking customer orders, purchase orders, production orders, etc., to insure finished product was in the door, and customer orders out the door in a timely manner (12-24 hours). This “Rolling Forecast” System was a integral tool and used by every department.  With reports tailored for each department’s role, it allowed for collaboration and communication to ensure accurate inventory amounts in order to meet customer demand, and do so without suffering costly shortages or overages.

§  Overhauled entire Forecast System to incorporate company’s rollout of internet sales venue which also included additional distribution channels and temporary product holding locations.

§  Provided marketing and purchasing management with end of year analyses of both customer sales patterns, demographic data, vendor performance, and internal production data to aid in future determination of product lines, price points, vendors, as well as marketing, and product strategies for the next selling cycle.  This included, but not limited to, performing complex data mining and analysis – many times on demand -- for management (involved heavy use of SQL).

§  Worked closely with management and end users during requirements phase of the SDLC and in areas of existing system changes where they would be impacted.  It has been my own policy not only to involve upper management, but also the end users; to listen to their perceptive ideas of the functions they perform daily, and bring these suggestions to project meetings.  Most, if not all, were incorporated into the planning of the applications. Many times these ideas evolved into a new project or major modifications when their viability caught the attention of top management.  Implementation of new systems and changes in existing systems that involved the users resulted in a smooth transition and required very little if any training.  I encouraged continued communication after any change so any concerns (or bugs) would be addressed immediately rather than having the users devise a ‘workaround’.  The users, now involved, were armed with the knowledge of the importance and consequences of  their role and actions, and how it impacted the integrity of “their” data as a whole.  Not always can their concerns be implemented and I am able to explain the reasons in such a way no one feels they have been ‘put on the bottom of the pile’. This practice has proved successful and productive.

8/01 to 9/03:  Mobile Veterinary Services (Walnut Cove, NC)
